Marco,

Give it a try, and you will discover that you would be hard pressed to hit
more than 128.

Cheers,

James

Well I can connect to the servers without any problems, but if I restart a
gameserver, it takes about 10 mins until I can type a command in console.

This problem is on all gameservers (tested on 5 gamesrvers / 5 different
[hardware]servers)

I think there could be a problem with any valve server, the Gameserver want
to talk to and the timeout is about 10mins.
Maybe! Maybe it is another problem with the bins or anything else.

One thing I want to tell!

Yesterday, we started a 64Slot BF1942 Server with DC running. With 64Players
online, the FPS was 30-40 frames and CPU 90% (of one virtual CPU (HT) (on an
dual Xeon 2,66GHz with HT). You see? 64Slots * 2 CPU's * 2 (HT/CPU)= 256
Players could play at the same time on this server. (okay, maybe 10-20 less
cause of overhead).

With CS 1.6 and pingboost 1 (you can not play without, on a 100Hz kernel)
and 16Slots it takes 60-70% CPU :)
You can setup here 4 CS Servers with 16 Slots, maybe 5. 64-80 Players can
play here this "complex" CS game, 256 can play BF1942.
There is something wrong with CS and linux.

Did anyone read this news item?

Sounds like a bad idea [tm], especially for all Europeans, who still
don't seem to adopt to paid gaming services at all.

Additionally, I don't see how a clan member will be willing to shell out
maybe 5 bucks a month for Steam AND pay their share of the clan's game
servers...
