I don't know of any firm timetable, we will switch once the player experience under
Steam is stable. We want to switch sooner rather than later so everyone can enjoy the
same game.

Subject: [hlds_linux] When is WON going offline??

Hey..

Has anyone heard anything official re the turning off of the WON servers??

Since STEAM/CS 1.6 has hit my gaming farm has lost a lot of players. I did
what I thought was best and upgraded to the new platform a few days after
the release when I was happy with the stability of the server. Many players
just haven't or won't upgrade to 1.6, many of them flocking to the CS 1.5
servers still running.

I have even tried dropping a few servers back to 1.5 to try and keep the
players. Too late, the players have moved on to other servers, so now my
servers sit empty, regardless of wether they are running 1.5 or 1.6.

I am hoping that the WON servers will be shutdown in the near future,
effectively forcing everyone to be playing 1 version of the game. Initial
rumours heard mused that it would be done within about 2 weeks of the
release of Steam and cs 1.6. Obviously it has been longer than that
already.

Alfred, can you comment?

mentasm.
