LOL - I changed that registry setting to http://www.gotgameservers.com/steamlogo.jpg and loaded the game - it showed in the box that pops and shows you the update info for the steam client but apparently there are checks when you try to connect to a game server that resets it to another content provider logo.
Anyone else have any ideas about circumventing it? Would this involve a steam client hack or would it be server side hack. If its server side it would be nice but i think the problem is on the end users steam client. Shouldnt be to hard to figure out. Its a shame someone didnt get the steam code instead of the hl2 code lol. Alfred - you guys need to provide some means of us providers putting our logo on the server in the /cstrike or /valve dir so that when people join our servers the part where they are connecting to the server shows the logo for that server provider because that part of the connection is not involving your content providers. I dont mind the content provider logo when my steam client is updating because that is using the content providers connection. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Rick Thompson Sent: Friday, November 28, 2003 10:54 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [hlds_linux] help! banner ad from unwelcome events -- Because we still have one tfc and one cs client. Since they were great people and long term clients we didn't throw them off the network when we closed 12 other client and pub servers. As long as they remain up, we have no choice but to remain here in order to solve the weekly problems valve presents us with. To monitor the stream of security threats that constantly pose a danger to our network also makes it prudent to remain here. What does that have to do with this thread anyway? I speak the truth, if you don't like your players being marketed like fish using *your* bandwidth, then get off the steam train because that's how it works. If you want to debate this issue I would be happy to discuss it with you, at least it would be on topic.
