Hi Alexander, i had similar problems with SuSE 8.0 (and 8.1). My HLDS or even the whole system had a baaaad performance. So I upgraded my system to Gentoo with an vanilla 2.4.21 kernel and some patches from http://www.plumlocosoft.com/kernel/
Actually I'm using a 2.6.1 kernel with these patches from http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/2.6/2.6.1/ : O21int O21int-batch6 batch6-ht8 am-5 200 HZ (instead of 1000, to change the value edit the /kernelsourcedirectory/include/asm-i386/params.h ,a value around 200-500Hz would be a good choice I think....1000Hz (standard value for 2.6* kernel...<=2.4 kernels are using 100Hz) creates to much overhead if you use an hlds(extremly high cpu usage)) -----Ursprngliche Nachricht----- From: Alexander Schfer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Donnerstag, 22. Please read the readme and take a look at my stats: http://www.temporal.ch/misc/susekernel/laag/ If you have seen similar load problems with newer kernels please tell me. If you think a detailed post of hardware and software information could help, I may just append it afterwards. bye Alex _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
