I can be completly mistaken but that UserID Thicket error usually 
appears if you use the same Steam Login in different machines, for instance:

Machine #1: you login and use login: [EMAIL PROTECTED] + password

Then you move to Machine #2 and login as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] + password

When you go back to Machine #1, you get a UserID Thicket, that's the 
only situation where I've seen those errors popup. The fix is to log out 
and re-log ;) I found that when I used my own ID to update a server, 
then the client would always pop that stuff out.

Are you sure your game server can reach internet and auth servers? I'll
double-check firewall and/or nat rules.
