Well in golf people do call fouls on themselves. I do it all the time when I unintentionally ground my club in a hazard or accidentally hit my ball. I'll take the penalties, as I and my golf partners would rather have an honest score. I have seen professional golfers do the same, call a foul on themselves. In professional golf, those aren't referees on the field but sort of rules advisors, and gallery control volunteers.
Not being an ass but there are sports in which people do call fouls on themselves. And I would like to think most people, do want to win, but winning is much that more satisfying when you do it honestly without cheating.
