You want valve to unbreak your perl script ?

No, not really, but it would be nice if they made some things constant
(so as to make administration easier).

Try re-writing it using expect with non-blocking filehandles,

Thank you, oh wise guru, but I already do (though I have not tried it on the latest release).

should allow you to fix the %n problem. I could write something up, I
was going to but

Ahh, there are lots of people willing to talk the solution, but few who can actually put the theory into practice. The internet is full of back seat drivers :)

I thought valve would have this fixed alot faster then the rcon exploit. If its not fixed by sunday(first day of my long weekend) Ill write and share a perl fix for it. On a side note, a scary MOTD seems to have really helped my servers, something along the lines of 'Your isp will be informed through normal abuse procedures and exploiting software on others computers is a federal offense'. Its a federal offense here in Australia anyway..

The rest was OK :))
