I'd love to be a tester in this part, as I discontinued use of phpUA
because of administering the clients and web portions, plus the need to
have a seperate installation per client. It wasn't worth the work for
the amount of use it got. If administration capabilities are severely
improved in this new version, I'd love to give it another test run.

I've tested and found that both steam: (native) and steam:// (hl protocol)
can co-exist just fine. Note the // as the difference.

btw, I know you were offering phpUA as a complimentary feature to your
clients (at least in the past) and we are very close to having our admin
panel ready to go and would love to have the voice of a GSP as we roll
this out. Check our forums if you'd like to be apart of that as we beta
test and roll that out. We are a unitedadmins project.

Next release should include basic hlds admin/rcon stuff ie changemap,
sv_password, kickban, etc along with a usage plugin (clone of hlds_stats
http://bs-linux.com/hlds_stats/) and from there will evolve to port to
other games we support along with adding things like config writing,
stop/start, etc.

In the two years I've been in the CS business, I've never heard of
anybody using, much less mentioning HL Protocol except for this list. I
would personally keep the HLSW protocol until they convert over to
Steam:// protocol for Steam native games.

I've added support for the "steam:" app launcher to phpUA and should have
an updated release out in a week or two following beta testing and a few
other features I want to get into this release. I just wonder if people
will still want things like hlsq and hl protocol launchers left in now
that its native...

Yes. If you know some php, I'd look up the MadQuery script. Otherwise
you can look for one from a third party provider. Using MadQuery gives
you the ability to add the tips I have in that tutorial because you have
control over the code. Please note that this script does not work on
Source servers.

Is there a way to add servers to favorites or have a Server Info/Game
Info window pop up about the server instead of launching?

you know,
this knowledge renders those 3rdparty apps like
