If you want to return the product that choice is up to you and I can understand your frustrations. We are trying to find a workaround for this issue though.
One customer just reported that removing the program AnyDVD seems to also fix this error. Another reported that removing Sonic DLA resolves this as well. If you have any third party dvd software installed you might try removing it to see if it resolves the problem.
