I just pulled this off the web and found a workaround for the issue. The
message is still and maybe this has been posted before, if so I apologize.
I had the exact error as you and others I have read about but I didn't see
any solutions posted regarding this issue. After some glibc research, I
found that my glibc that came with Fedora Core 3 killed the server due to
failing internal sanity checks. I searched for answers for some time
regarding compatibility and found that by setting the MALLOC_CHECK_
environment variable options you can keep it from killing the application
when it fails a check. Try this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] hl2mp]$ export MALLOC_CHECK_=0
Then start the server as usual. You'll get a few exra errors in addition to
the many normal ones, but it will run. This is kind of dirty and I will now
patiently wait for full glibc-2.3.3 support!
Thanks,
Warren

Hi,

I reinstalled my server and now when i start a cs:s server using this
commandline:

./srcds_run -game cstrike +ip 62.212.89.227 +maxplayers 18 +map de_aztec
+log on

This error occurs:

Auto detecting CPU
Using AMD Optimised binary.
Auto-restarting the server on crash

Console initialized.
Attempted to create unknown entity type event_queue_saveload_proxy!
Game .dll loaded for "Counter-Strike: Source"
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0xf6ff2460 ***
./srcds_run: line 341: 17911 Aborted $HL_CMD
Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help
with solving this problem
Mon Nov 15 10:25:30 CET 2004: Server restart in 10 seconds

The debug.log is also very revealing:

cat debug.log
----------------------------------------------
CRASH: Mon Nov 15 10:31:18 CET 2004
Start Line: ./srcds_amd -game cstrike +ip 62.212.89.227 +maxplayers 18 +map
de_aztec +log on -debug
End of Source crash report
----------------------------------------------

Is source incompatible with FC3? Under FC2 it ran perfectly.

Can anyone help me? Googeling the error isnt giving me any answers.

Regards,

Harry
