I'd definitely recommend the qstat route if you have the access to get qstat installed on the web server. Updating it is easy as you just have to install a new version of qstat instead of trying to find the author of some php you found on the net or trying to update it yourself. Also the class that is available on the qstat site makes incorporating it into your page really easy.
