Nick Shaffner iirc.

It is very odd that Nick rewrote VAC and added in new cheat detections
as and when they were mailed to him and it was really working for a good few
months.
Then all of a sudden it all just stopped, no warning, no word, no explanation
nothing. I don't think there has been a post by Nick to the mailing lists since
July. I wondered why the logging of bans stopped in server consoles too hmm.

VAC gets raised on this list at least once a fortnight but it never gets
touched by anyone
at Valve in way of a reply. I am actually surprised that Alfred even replied to
anything involving the
VAC module as the conspiracy theorist in me thinks there could have been a good
business reason for not wanting to dole out 5 year bans from VAC enabled
servers to their
customers.

Whatever the case there will be a good reason for not keeping VAC up to date.
Of course the validity of the 'good' behind the reason is only known
to the Valve employees/owners privy to the info.

It is pretty obvious that we are not going to be told why its not being updated,
but I would be shocked if Eric/Nick/Alfred replied with a "we just sort of
couldn't be arsed"
and that was the reason. Just accept that it probably won't be updated again
anytime soon,
but when/if it ever is, this list will be the place you will find out about it.

Strange, I remember that during the last period of concern towards VAC
admins were called up to mail cheat sites on the WWW etc. to a special
account: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Could this be our hero?
