Just got and get a free subdomain from dyndns.net.
And point it to your IP.

you don't need a valid domain name for LAN DNS, perhaps some creative
HOSTS
file editing?

Just here at home... firewall/NAT/DHCP.... DNSmasq is on.... I do not
have
a
domain name registered at the moment,, that is why I was just using the
WAN
IP

I take it that you cannot set the http DL to work with an IP like
http://192.168.*.*

What I am attempting to do is setup a LAN server for a 400man LAN at
the
end
of the month, and have it defer custom map DL's to my other box that
will
be
there that has http setup on it.
I can get it to work using the WAN IP so that the firewall/NAT forwards
the
request to the http box (even though the client is connected to the LAN
IP),
but when using the LAN IP in the server.cfg the client gets
disconnected
with a cannot find map blahblah.bsp after attempting to DL it.

I am only doing this to insure fast map downloading to the clients.

Thanks,

SP_Kenny
