Hi. First off, I am a Windows 2003 Server user. formerly. After reading many
articles about the advantages of Linux (stability, security, etc) in running
HLDS, I have decided to start my next server running Debian. I have
experience with Linux (RH9). The true reason I'd like to switch over to
Linux is because I love playing on servers with high server-side FPS. While
running Windows servers, I could only get the FPS up to ~500. My goal is
1000FPS. I read conflicting articles on the matter so I can never get a true
"Because." answer.

I have also read that in order to run HLDS at 1000FPS, one would need to
recompile the kernel at 1000Hz and set sys_ticrate at 1000 (and having a
system that can handle that load. duh). No problem.

My question is:
Is anyone running their server at 1000FPS? What exactly did you do to
achieve this? What are your system specifications? Distro? Are your FPS
stable @ 1000 or fluctuating and hitting 1000 occasionally?

Thanks!
