This is just a simple question about something we beat to death all the time...
I recently installed a new kernel (2.6.x) and I was reading thru the param.h file looking at this... #ifdef __KERNEL__ # define HZ 1000 /* Internal kernel timer frequency */ # define USER_HZ 100 /* .. some user interfaces are in "ticks" */ # define CLOCKS_PER_SEC (USER_HZ) /* like times() */ #endif //if not defined then... (kinda pointless) #ifndef HZ #define HZ 100 #endif If im reading too much into this say so lol.. but user_hz = 100, and it says that some user interfaces are in ticks. Then shouldnt this be 1000 as well seeing as how hlds uses 'sys_tickrate' ? Just to see what happens I changed user_hz to 1000. On a full 16 slot server on my dual mp 2200 it says on 'top' that the server is using about 20% steady give or take a few %. However in server console 'stats' says cpu is at 99%. Server plays great and the fps stays steady at 80-100 even full. Im not sure what user_hz did to mess up 'stats' in console lol... Does this even correlate? If not it must have been the other things I did. (this is a gentoo box btw) I switched to NPTL and recompiled system and world with new useflags as well. -- Dedicated Servers Available East Coast Only - 1200gb BW p4 thru xeon - AIM: gotgameservers _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
