I joined this list to get information on how to run a Half Life 2

I've been running a CS:S server on Fedora Core 2 and am about to launch a HL2DM server. I was just going to copy the entire installation to a new location, but I'm also wondering if there's some way to get the two installations to share files? Alas, I figure that'll play havoc with the auto-updater, though.

Ideally I'd like all common files owned by a 3rd party (maybe root) to
protect them from extraneous runtime corruption, with the updater running
as the 3rd party (so maybe not root), and then run the two servers as two
other users.
