Which version of metamod are you running? And are you sure there are no other mods running? Also, which game is it?
I had 3 to 4 processes running with hlguard, amxmodx, and metamod-p for firearms. Performance was DREADFUL. It was fixed by changing the order of the mods loaded by metamod around. You may also want to try one of the alternate hlguard binaries.
