I will definately second the opinion on AMD. I transferred a superheroes server over to an AMD64 2800+ and from my monitoring it so far i have seen like 2-5% usage with 12+ people in it. Thats coming from a P4 2.8ghz 1mb cache 800fsb. I have yet to test out some opterons.

Most people are going to tell you AMD is the better choice for HLDS and SRCDS. The newer P4's (and any Xeon) will far outperform any low end comsumer CPU such as the Celeron primarily becuase of the larger cache. I don't personally agree with the comment on the FSB, I don't think it makes that much difference. But there is always one way to find out. Just try it and see what happens. And if you're going to buy new hardware, go AMD. -- - m0gely http://quake2.telestream.com/ Q2 | Q3A | Counter-strike _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
