OK, will those files tell me how to edit them once i open them? as i said before im new to linux and dont kno what those file are for or how i am to edit them? What should the settings with in the two files you mentioned below be set to? No offence to anyone but for me and linux for the time being i need KISS (keep it simple stupid) :). thanks for all the help guy and gals. when i get home today i will try the things you have said.

Sounds like Steve's right.
While you're configuring things you might want to check the default firewall settings for FC3 in both lokkit (/sbin/lokkit) for the interface you're using, and also in apf (/etc/apf/conf.apf). You need to make sure the settings are correct in both. Don't ask me why both are installed by default.
