Anything and I mean ANYTHING that modifies steam or game executables will probably result in a ban. the "fix" that you are referring to for 3dsky patches the game executable and so therefore is a prime candidate. qUiCkSiLvEr ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vapor" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, June 18, 2005 12:35 AM Subject: [hlds_linux] VAC2 actually detecting & banning?
Alfred, I was still under the impression VAC2 was still in infrastructure test phase? However, on restarting my local steam client this morning I was informed via dialog of my new found VAC ban from CS:S and HL2DM. I only play on my own CS:S servers which are running -vacbeta. CS:S is the only steam game I have run in over 6 months. I do regularly run a program which holds r_3dsky at 0 for testing purposes (which I can send you on request), which I understand is most likely classified as a cheat. Other than that, system clean. I'm not bothered about the ban, I have several CD keys, the messing is a fuss though. I'm hopeful you will confirm VAC2 is actually operational and indeed banning cheats? Can you also confirm the r_3dsky patch is one of the cheats detected (It's nice to know the lesser evils are being caught)? Some form of warning would have been nice though, and confirmation of the above will allow us to limit further banning of my admins keys (and associated costs). Brett
