After the update to VAC2, my Clients don't have to download a
Security-Modul...

Are you sure, that the Server running on the right version ?

I have a rather unique network setup (multi-homed nic+an outgoing PPPoE DSL
connection), and I get this occasionally ... what seems to work is bringing
up the console and typing "ip my.outgoing.dsl.ipaddress" (e.g. primary
gateway), and then I'll be able to connect fine.

I wouldn't rule out that being a fluke, but it's possible VAC2 has some
clientside problems with complex/broken network setups such as mine.

If you have something similar going on (nic+other wan connection), it might
be worth checking.
