FWIW, turning off mpsafenet reduces network performance slightly, but
you won't notice it since you're doing relatively low PPS anyways;
even fully loaded you'll be running out of cpu time and not interrupt time.

My apologies for sounding frustrated.  It does in fact work.  He did say
"I tried it all" though, so I didn't bother as it seemed to be one of
many "try this" statements.  Thank you again.
