You could recode it to read commands from a file and execute them.

Feature request:
Is it possible to run a given shell-script/program from hlds/srcds when
an update is available?
Something like this line in server config:
update_notify_exec "/usr/bin/send_mail_to_admin.sh"

Would be nice, so a script can send a mail to the admin when a new
update is available or restart the server, send rcon messages to
current players... .
