DODS Dedicated Server consists of: 'Base Source Shared Materials' version 7 'Base Source Shared Models' version 3 'Base Source Shared Sounds' version 3 'Day of Defeat Source Base Content' version 1 'Source Dedicated Server Linux'
The first 3 are from normal Hl2 and as the name say they are shared and not dods depended - only for the "Day of Defeat Source Base Content" package you need the preload thing - "Source Dedicated Server Linux" is shared again. To answer your question. No you dont have to you can wait until you see the error and just start it again with the right params. You can also stop it anytime it will start over at the place again you stopped it.
