The default on my server (DoD:S) seemed to be 1.0 (1second). This seems
FAR too large as a default. Surely a more sensible default now that so
many users have broadband would be 0.25 (250ms) or even lower? Perhaps
if the default was lowered, server admins wouldn't feel the need to use
3rd party mods to auto-kick players with high pings?

Or maybe I'm getting a little confused here?

Anyone?

Well I'm not sure it will actually make a great deal of difference. I
doubt if you only have broadband players that it will hurt though.

Thanks Peter. Like most servers now, I do have mainly broadband only
players but it seems like ocassionally some 22.8k modem player from
deepest darkest Africa wants to play and people start to get slightly
upset when they are unable to shoot this laggy 300+ ping player.

Perhaps now I've set sv_unlag to 0.2 it wont be so bad. I could, of
course, just use a mod to auto kick players with a high ping but I've
always thought of this as a bit harsh! ;) Would much prefer them to
quit on their own accord because their gaming experience was lame :)
