If this is an error of a serveradmin...well... then it's his problem. He
probably has done something with the metamod source which he shouldn't have
done. To all other admins: Get your metamod files at the source:

http://metamod-p.sourceforge.net/
or
http://www.sf.net/projects/metamod-p

Currently, the only recently released version is Metamod-P v1.19p28. As far
as i have detected, there are no bugs in this release. If you have detected
any, please report it to the creator on the sites above.

If I'm reading it right, I get the impression if you got the files from
the
metamod site you should be fine. The problem is some dodgy server admins
could use an amended metamod to perform certain changes. Realistically
that
can only be done with intent by the server admin, but I guess its possible
if you grab a metamod you're not aware of from an unofficial site or
something.

Realistically this could be an issue with any mod really I would guess,
especially ones where the source is available. Ultimalte serverside there
are a lot of possibilities for implementing changes in one form or another
without the clients being aware. Not really sure Valve can do much about
that apart from maybe provide md5s of any custom files to the client to
make
sure they match? (maybe already do this?) so that you can check later if
there's any question?
