I'm phasing out our last 4.11-STABLE boxes now. Most of our FBSD boxes are 5.4-STABLE (being updated to 5.5). Thus far I've found 6.1-STABLE to perform fine in test, and will be installed on the 4.11-STABLE boxes that are replaced. 4.x was a great stable version, but 6.x supports more hardware and options. I think you'll be happy after upgrade.
Indeed 4.11 was a good stable released but we found 5.4 to be just as stable and increased performance due to the SMPng work. We've moved all our core boxes to 6.1 again rock solid and better performance than 5.4 again. We will also be moving all our servers to 6.1 as it is stable, performs better and as Jeff said supports more hardware.
