Most people have 2 ears, registry can be configured in between those... As long as you don't run too much shit on a box, use a 1000HZ kernel (afaik 2.6.12 is still 1000HZ by default) and use a bit higher sys_ticrate (somewhere between 100 and 400), your side should be fine. You can also try to set min and max updaterate/cmdrate close to eachother (between 60 and 80), that solves a lot of problems too.
