I think I may have found the solution to my problem: There was a port
being blocked after all.
The server tried to connect to steam2.steampowered.com over TCP port
27033. Missed this earlier (oops).
Do any of you having these problems firewall outgoing connections?
This is not a confirmed solution for me yet by the way, as I can't test
it myself. For me it has always worked fine.
We have a war on the server in question tonight, so I'm sure I will find
out (and report back to the list) if this has solved it.
