I'm sure you're probably looking for some excellent method that I
don't believe exists, but have you considered looking through the logs
for the time the said offender joined and matching that timestamp to
the timestamp of the file in the downloads folder?

Hi helpful bunch.

I use mani spray tracker and recently banned a user for spraying some
tasteless and illegal images of minors on my server.

I have reported the user to the abuse email of his ISP and would
really like to report him to the legal authorities too, however I know
that they will want specific proof.

I haven't touched any logs on the server and used HLSW to get the guys
IP address but is there a way of linking a spray that sits in the
downloads directory of the server to the person that uploaded it? I
don't even know of a way to open the files there but I'm sure that the
authorities could work it out,

I find it sick that someone wouldn't send this stuff to anyone
physically, but they think that on the internet and in games it is OK
because they are anonymous. I want to prove this isn't true. He must
have this image on his computer and that is illegal and wrong.

It is a linux server but I'm sure the spray downloading works the same on both.
