Plz.

IMO about 70% users of this mailing list are fucking retard's or don't
know anything about Linux (anymore than how to run cs-server and chmod).

Dont please answer if you don't have the experience...

It might be true that the permissions are fucked up topo, but the
message "./steam: No such file or directory." comes because the
operating system is 64bit and there is missing 32bit package. That is
why you NEED TO INSTALL ia32-libs package in debian.

If the reason were only wrong permissions, it would say "permission
denied" not "No such file or directory.". That message is pretty weird
error message about missing 32bit package, but thats the way it is. I
know this because I have 64bit installations too, and you cant run
./steam if you don't have the 32bit package installed.

Your problem is obvious. You migrated your installation to another
server. There the user of steam does not exist, that's why the uid is
displayed instead of the username, do a chown as root to the right users
name und steam will run ...

yea i always use the TAB to complete file names and stuff. The file
is there
DEFINETLY!
When i tried to see my permissions i got:
debian-x86:/home/cookie/cs_srv01# ls -al
total 9276
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2007-02-05 16:48 .
drwxr-xr-x 5 cookie cookie 4096 2007-02-05 16:48 ..
-rwx------ 1 1016 users 7506846 2004-09-22 12:54 steam
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1962970 2004-09-22 12:55 steam.tar.gz
debian-x86:/home/cookie/cs_srv01#

I dont quite get it tho, what are the last 2 lines for?
I was loged in as 'cookie' (thats my standard user) but i 'su' to
root. That
couldnt be the problem could it?
But anyways the permissions seem to look on, dont they?
