-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I have also run into this issue. I had a script in place that would automatically renice the srcds process to -20, which worked great. Somewhere down the line, that functionality broke, and whenever I use -20 (or anything lower than 0 actually) it spikes to 100% CPU and lags the entire machine. I've had to disable the script since and have been looking for a fix for a good while now. Giving the srcds process the highest prioritiy always helped in keeping our servers running smoothly with high shot registration. Now trivial system processes and other things take either the same or lower priority, which is less than desirable. A fix would be great. Our systems run Gentoo Linux with the 2.6.20 kernel currently, with 1000HZ set as well as CFQ for the I/O scheduler. Going to try out RSDL when I can test it to see how much it helps.
