I haven't tried TF2, so I couldn't tell you.  I don't think by much though.  
Personally, I prefer dynamic ticks.  Even better than 1000HZ IMO :D

thanks for the Link, i'll try and compile the new kernel tonight. Do you
have any estimate figure by what the CPU load will increase after that?
