You should be able to connect to your own server using the external ip.
You shouldn't need to use the internal.

My game server is behind a NAT firewall. The server address is 192.168.0.2,
but the outside world sees it correctly as 69.251.118.155.

However, when I play, I play on the internal IP address 192.168.0.2 and the
friends system shows me playing on the internal IP address, so people can't
join my game because they can't connect to the internal IP address. Is
there any way to make the friends system to report me playing on the
external IP address?

Thanks,
Guy
