hi alfred,

could you please confirm or deny that the IP 68.142.88.34 is down?
i tried with ICMP pings from severel german backbones but i always failed.
maybe ICMP is simply blocked and the reason why our game servers (and
others, see previous postings) are not able to connect is based on
another problem.
but before i do further investigation i'd like to have a reliable answer
from valve.

@alfred, can you confirm this problem?

@Saint K. i guess that you have the same problem as Thomas and me. the
server starts up as it should but before it shows "Connection to Steam
servers successful." it stops. you got to restart the server 3,4,5 times
before it works again. after that, the SYN_SENT line in netstat -a has
also gone.
