If you're really having this kind of problem, consider switching mail clients. Threading views should be created by checking the "In-Reply-To" header, which is not specified when a new thread is started (e.g. when Jason sent out his e-mail today with "Team Fortress 2 Update Coming" in the subject line). Anything else is bad.
