I've also run into this exact same problem. For GMod on the OB engine, there are surfaces that seem to be entirely bugged out. I tried the newest wine-git as of last week and several different methods to fix it, but for now it just appears to be related to a bug in wine. It's sad, too, because *everything* else ran perfectly and at good performance, if for a bit higher CPU cost than it would on windows. it's too bad garry has decided against supporting linux - Me and my group of friends, at least, arn't playing his game right now. There are many small communities that dont extend into gmod because they dont' have dedicated windows 'game server' boxes to run this stuff on.
