It could do this, but mainly it's meant to just read raw commands and execute them and output stuff - the fact that you _can_ telnet to it to do stuff isn't the main purpose - it's expected that you'd be typing into some sort of not-yet-existing remote console app that has stuff like editing, completion, automation, etc, and that _that app_ has nice editing, gui, etc.
