actually ive had the opposite effect, no-one has been prompted for a
password and people from lobbys were able to connect. My server was set up
as private and now its open to all.

here is my startup string.

-game left4dead -console +map l4d_dem_hospital01_apartment -port 27200
-nomaster +ip xxx

The nomaster has stemmed the flow of randoms but the sv_password is not
being applied!
