When running with the configuration as you can see it in those profiles, I get a ping of 40ms when I am alone on one of my (l4d) servers. If I recall correctly I've seen much lower ping times on other people servers. So a question comes to mind. Is there something I can do about this? I know this can rely on many factors like the infrastructure of the datacenter where my server is located, local processes, additional processes on my server and so on. But besides those well known factors, are there any adjustments I can make to my server configuration that will result in better response times?
I have read a lot of posts regarding pingboosts and tickrates and whatnot, but I have read just as many stating that such techniques are kind of pointless. Any advice would be highly appreciated.
