You can change the game mode from the lobby. Co-op and Survival modes
only support 4 players, versus mode has 8. If you are directly
connecting to a server using "connect" in the console, I think the game
will be "stuck" in whichever mode the server is set in by default (it
will be in versus mode if it defaults to a versus map, etc.)
