I know ics and I completely agree, we should not be needing to run
addons in order for our servers to stay up. The Null pointer (crash
exploit which this update was attempting to fix) has been public
knowledge since August of 09 and is commonly used, the "Dos Attack"
external application used to flood servers still has not been fixed
(and is even older than the above exploit), Failed Rcon attempt
flooding, File uploads/downloads (Which dates back to 04 which was the
first reported case if I recall correctly), the list really goes on. I
had my entire box rooted in December due to these ill fixes (and my
asinine idea to run the server on Root, which is a terrible idea).

Valve is making an effort and I do commend them for it, however this
is getting rather painful and down right foolish to continue hosting
servers for these games.
