I can confirm that it takes many, many tries. I'm attempting a clean install of CS:S in its own separate directory to see if it solves the crashes I'm experiencing. The first time I ran the update command, it downloaded all of the hl2 and orangebox stuff, but it didn't download *any* CS:S files at all. I ran the update command 9 more times (and waited about 10 minutes for it to finish each time) and it kept saying that everything was up to date. Finally, on the 10th try, it downloaded the CS:S files and created the /orangebox/cstrike folder.
