If sv_master_legacy_mode is 1 the reply is correct with "pl" for SourceTV
But when I am using 0 (as we should)
the answer is "dl"
The data at the wiki must be outdated. Anyone knows the current string
to query a server?

Try netcat (or nc for short), should be available in about any
Unix-based system (not sure if shipped by default or if you need to
install it from repository on some Linux distros)
