Whoops, the right syntax is setmaster add IP.

Use command "setmaster" without the "" on console to see if it's connected to master servers or not. You can also try to add servers manually, like setmaster 72.165.61.153:27015 or setmaster 63.234.149.83:27011. It's not recommended though but helps you to solve the situation. The addresses i listed are actual IP's of master servers.

To me it sounds as a iptables problem.
Ive had some similar problems and I couldnt get iptables to open ports.
My problems was solved with a reset of iptables - restart and then configuration again.

Good Luck

Hi all,

Soon I'm hosting a LAN party and we'd like to be able to have some dedicated
servers running. Out of the three configured servers, currently one is
refusing to show up in the Steam Group Server list you get in the bottom right corner in the main menu of L4D2. I've been struggling with the issue for the past month, so I hope maybe you guys can shed a new light on this.
You can find an extract of my previous findings here:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2119910

What else have I discovered meanwhile: the OS of the affected dedicated
server is Ubuntu 11.04 compared to two Ubuntu 10.04.2 servers.
When a Left 4 Dead 2 update comes out, the other two servers get the
"MasterRequestRestart
Your server will be restarted on map change.
L 10/09/2011 - 23:18:58: Your server will be restarted on map change."
message, while the affected server does not.

Anyone else having this issue? Is there perhaps a command where I can check my connection with the master server, "heartbeat" is not having any effect.

Kr,
Thibaud
