Old how? It's been updated to support engine changes and they've added features to it.
The appeal is the basic and most popular features are included in one plugin. While you have greater control with Sourcemod, you need to hunt for plugins and update each plugin separately. Mani has it's place. P.S. For the record, I use Sourcemod as well.
