Forgot to say it here, but I managed to update the server by using
tsocks and mounting a socks5 server on another host with better
international bandwidth
Keep in mind that if you need to use tsocks with hldsupdate in a x86_64
machine, you must get the 32-bit version of libtsocks.so (APT gives you
the 64-bit one).
Thanks you for the help

How would using a tunnel help you exactly?

Hi,
Every time Valve releases a new update for TF2 or CS:S I have big
issues
using 'steam' because the bad quality of international bandwidth. It
would
be great if hldsupdatetool had support for SOCKS5 proxy so I can make a
tunnel with another machine (with better intl bandwidth).
Is someone else experiencing similar issues?
