I'm having an issue I've never had with srcds before, when I launch my TF2
server is binds to the IP specificed, however, after a map change it likes to
rebind the "public" address to the machine's main ip, (**.**.**.88). Which will
not allow users to join from their steam friends.
I utilize the quickplay feature, and once the server gets populated people have
issues inviting their friends, if they directly connect using "connect
**.**.**.92" in console, they can join without any issue, you can't actually
join the server off of **.**.**.88 (the machine's main address).
The server is completely vanilla outside of a couple settings in server.cfg
(rcon_password, hostname, etc.)
./srcds_run +ip **.**.**.92 -console -game tf +map ctf_2fort +maxplayers 24
I'm also running a dod server which does not have this problem, when we bind
the ip on the dod server to **.**.**.91, it will stay like that. After map
changes, restarts, etc.
We found this out after running a status command, which looks like this after
it occurs.
version : 1.2.1.4/21 4961 secure
udp/ip : ***.***.***.92:27015 (public ip: ***.***.***.88)
account : not logged in (Cannot locate owner's steam account)
map : ctf_2fort at: 0 x, 0 y, 0 z
players : 6 (24 max)
The "cannot locate owner's steam account" just happened after today's update,
we haven't restarted the server since the update due to the amount of players
we had online. But the ip issue has been around before today's update.
You can see how it's binding to the ip I specify in the command line, but then
it sets the "public ip" to .88 which people will see on steam. Why doesn't
public ip automatically inherit from the standard udp address?
And is there a cvar I need to set to keep "public ip" from changing?
