Hopefully it's where steam is trying to filter out the animated motd's such as youtube. Some admin's don't think about how they force the client to play a video as they enter the server. They try to trick the client into pressing the stop button which then causes something else to load. If you do nothing to stop the video then you are forced to listen to the the ad's from youtube till it stops. Only alternative is to disable the HTML motd in the clients settings, which effects static html files also. Sry for the rant, but i hope this is why for the issues in the motd.
