Eric,

There is a issue with the last update.

First, if the steam_appid.txt file do not exist, it will create one that is
not working (at least on linux Debian). Example for DOD:S:
cat -e steam_appid.txt
300$
^@

there is "^@" that should be removed.

Another major problem is:
Since a few updates ago, a steam_appid.txt is required to make the game
work. Until the last update, you could put any steam appid (like TF2) and
make all game running with that ID (TF2, HL2MP, DOD).
Now, since the last update, it has to be the app id of the game you start
or you will get a steam validation reject.... The problem is that this
steam_app.id file is located in the orangebox directory, and if you switch
from DOD:S to TF2, you now need to update that file, which is really a pain
and boring.
Can we not move that file into the game directory instead like
orangebox/tf2/steam_appid.txt, orangebox/dod/steam_appid.txt as this file
is not related to the engine but the game / mod ?

Of course, it's not hard to script a patch at our level that will rewrite
the file depending the game started, but I guess this would still be a
problem for other people.

Cheers,

Marc.
